Helping Those Who Have Been Injured Recover For More Than 25 Years

Should Amazon drivers turn left?

On Behalf of | Mar 31, 2026 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Over the years, there have been reports that delivery companies have worked to eliminate left turns. Examples include companies like UPS or FedEx. Drivers will schedule routes to go around the block in order to avoid a left turn.

But in today’s day and age, many packages are delivered directly. Those who buy off of Amazon may get their packages delivered by dedicated Amazon drivers in their blue vans. Should these drivers also be avoiding left-hand turns while making their stops?

Reducing accident risks

Part of the reason that delivery companies have taken this step historically is efficiency. Sitting in traffic to wait to make a left turn is not efficient, and it burns fuel.

But there is also a safety component. Left turns are inherently very dangerous. It means the driver has to make a judgment call about when it is safe to turn, and they have to cross in front of oncoming traffic.

Needless to say, an accident is both dangerous and inefficient for the delivery company. It can lead to significant injuries for other parties, and it can ruin products or delay their delivery substantially. These are all reasons why Amazon drivers may also be wise to avoid left turns.

Seeking compensation

Delivery vehicles are very common on the roads these days, and you may see them making unexpected stops or other maneuvers. If you are injured in an accident that one of these drivers causes, be sure you know what legal steps to take to seek financial compensation to cover costs like medical bills, lost wages and more.
