Helping Those Who Have Been Injured Recover For More Than 25 Years

3 reasons delivery drivers might need injury compensation

Driving for a living comes with one clear and obvious risk – the risk of a crash. These are everyday events, so driving more, such as for work, will generally increase the chance of being involved in one.

Yet that is far from the only way in which drivers could be injured. Here are some more.

1. Muscular strain

Back pain is one area drivers often suffer from. The human body was not designed to sit down all day, but this is what driving for a living requires. Lower back pain can be hard to shift once you get it, and can affect the rest of your day, too, leading to poor sleep among other consequences.

Repeatedly shifting a stiff gearstick can also cause bodily strain over time. Even when drivers do get out of the vehicle, they may continue at risk of muscular or nerve injuries. For example, if required to maneuver heavy or awkward boxes in and out of their vehicles.

2. Slips and falls

Delivery drivers often start early, and this can leave them more susceptible to icy sidewalks or streets when getting out to make a delivery. They may also be expected to take goods around the back of a building to avoid using the customer-facing entrance. These entrances may not be as well-maintained and may be poorly lit or cluttered with trip hazards.

3. Dogs

Many dogs defend their territory, and that can often include having a go at and possibly biting a delivery driver who dares to cross the threshold

An injury can leave a driver unable to earn, at least temporarily. It may also involve costly medical bills. Those injured in the course of their work may want help to examine their compensation options.
